Coaching Conversations Across Borders: A Journey of Sharing, Learning, and Connection
The Power of Coaching in Education
What does coaching in education look like across the world? How does it empower teachers, and students in different cultural and policy contexts? These are the questions I’ll be exploring over the next few months as I take A Teachers Guide to Coaching on the road.
This is a bit different to a traditional book launch! Over the next few months, I’ll be travelling to Denmark, China, Turkey, the UAE and Mongolia, gifting copies of my book to educators along the way. I will be engaging in conversations about how coaching is shaping teacher development, student learning and inclusive school cultures in diverse settings.
Coaching is a powerful tool for growth, reflection, and empowerment. It helps teachers refine their practice, develop their agency, and foster stronger relationships with colleagues and students. Every country has its own approach to education, its own challenges, and its own ways of embedding coaching into professional development. My goal with this journey is to learn as much as I share - to listen to educator's’ perspectives, understand the role coaching plays in their schools and reflect on how coaching can be adapted to different educational landscapes. The first stops on this journey will be Aarhus and Aalborg in Denmark this April. From there, Nanjing, China at the end of April, Istanbul, Turkey in May, Abu Dhabi, UAE in June and Mongolia in July.
Why This Journey Matters
Coaching in education is about empowerment, agency, and transformation. When educators engage in coaching, they develop deeper self awareness, communication skills, and become more intentional about their practice. Coaching helps teachers navigate complexity reduce stress and create meaningful learning experiences for their students.
Coaching can look different across education systems. In some countries, it is well-integrated into teaching training and leadership development. In others, it is still an emerging concept. This journey is about exploring those differences, learning from educators in each regions, and sharing insights on how coaching can be a catalyst for change in schools worldwide.
By gifting copies of A Teacher’s Guide to Coaching, I hope to spark conversations about how coaching is evolving in different cultural contexts.
My travels will take me to:
Aarhus and Aalbord, Denmark (April)-
Denmark has a strong tradition of teacher agency and professional trust. How does coaching fit into that model, and how are Danish educators using coaching to support one another?
Nanjing, China (April)
China’s education system is rapidly evolving. How is coaching being used to support teaching in balancing innovation, tradition, and student well-being?
Istanbul, Turkey (May)
Coaching can play a crucial role in supporting teacher resilience and well-being. How are Turkish educators leveraging coaching in diverse school settings?
Abu Dhabi, (UAE) June
With a highly international and multilingual education system, how does coaching help teachers navigate cultural diversity and global perspectives?
Mongolia (July)
Mongolia’s education landscape is unique. How can coaching support student-centred learning, inclusion, and teacher development in a system undergoing change?
